Ten Umang classes have been started in Lokmanyanagar, Shastrinagar areas of Thane on the lines of 'Disha classes' being run by WNY for the last 6 years at Turbhe, Navi Mumbai. Inauguration was done by distributing dictionaries to 10 Umang teachers by Mr. Sanjeev Sadhale, M.D. of Accura Valves. Ms. Rati Bhosekar, noted educationist from Thane conducted a special session for youngsters.
Eklavya Programs for the year 2024 were organised in the month of June. The first event was held on June 16th, 2023 at Ghansoli. noted film director Mr. Viju Mane and veteran Yoga teacher Mr. Sabir Shaikh were two chief guests. A total number of 70 students were honored with this award. Also 32 students from Yashodhan School and TMC School (Thane) were presented Eklavya Award on June 25th. The awards were distributed at the hands of Prof. Santosh Rane and social activist Mr. Suryakant Koli. Prof. Meenal Sohoni presided over the award function. All the awardees were given cash prize of Rs. 500 each, certificates of appreciation and it was announced that the institute would provide all the textbooks required by the institute free of charge for their upcoming educational journey.
Satyashodhak Katta and Popular Prakashan, Mumbai jointaly organised a book release function of 6th collection of poetry titled 'Hillol Harwun AatBahercha' by Dr. Pradnya Daya Pawar. The book was released by noted Marathi critic Dr. Avinash Sapre. Other speakers were poetess Neeraja, senior Hindi poet Mr. Vijay Kumar, Malayali poet and song writer Anwar Ali. Veteran writer and activist Arjun Dangle presided over the function.
The program was held at Dadar Matunga Cultural Center, Matunga, Mumbai.
A three-day summer camp of Eklavya students was organized at Yusuf Meher Ali Centre, Tara on 24th, 25th and 26th May 2024. The concept and entire planning of this camp titled Rileshani had been done by the organization Arogya Bhan (Pune) unde the mentorship of Dr. Mohan Deshpande. A total number of 27 participants were present for the camp. These were mainly ekalvya students from Ghansoli, as well as from Yashodhan School, Thane. 3 participants were from tailoring class at Turbhe and 9 tribal students from Kalyan and Bhiwandi also participated in this camp.
A frank, open and clinical discussion of different aspects of various types of relationships took place over three days.
Rileshani was presented through the medley of various art mediums like storytelling, folk art, songs, dance, verbal and physical acting, drama, painting, installation and moot court.
The camp received great response from all boys and girls.
On the occasion of Indian national elections to the 18th Loksabha a public lecture was organised by 'Satyashodhak Katta' at Ghansoli center on 20th April 2024 on the topic 'Suffrage for what?' Secretary of Thane Voter Awareness Campaign Dr. Ms. Chetana Dixit and Founder of Kayadyane Waga Campaign, and councillor Mr. Raj Asrondkar were the two speakers. Both of them stressed the importance of voting as an act of strengthening of democracy.
We Need You proudly hosted its annual gathering on 23rd March 2024 at the Hanuman temple auditorium in Ghansoli village. The event witnessed active participation by students of various activities conducted, from kindergarten to computer classes to beauty parlour training class. 10 plus on-stage activities including dance, music, singing, acting and more were conducted by students.
A public lecture on 'Char Purusharth - Riddle of Motivation' by veteran psychiatrist Dr. Anand Nadkarni was held on 16th March 2024. He spoke about Vinoba Bhave's concept of Purushartha and its relevance as motivation for human beings. He deliberated upon the linkages between traditional wisdom and modern psychology.
Like every year, this year also the organization celebrated International Women's Day on 8th of March, 2024. Noted Sculptor and entrepreneur Rupali Madan was the chief guest of the event. In her speech, she said that our talents and skills give meaning to our lives. The program was presided over by the WNY's Designate Trustee Prof. Meenal Sohoni. A total number of 80 to 85 women and girls attended this event. The students of the computer class presented a play on the women's issue and it was appreciated by all.
Satyashodak Katta was inaugurated on April 20th, 2024 by Additional Commissioner of Thane Municipal Corporation Mr. Sandeep Malvi. On this occasion Professor of English in Swami Ramanand Tirtha Marathwada University, Nanded and follower of Satyashodhak thought Dr. Dilip Chavan spoke on the relevance of Satyashodhaki thought in modern times. Trustee designate Prof. Vrishali Vinayak moderated the program. The program was held at Comrade Godutai Parulekar Park in Thane.
Vrati awards of WNY for the year 2023 were given on February 4th, 2024. Awards were given at the hands of retired Supreme Court judge Mr. Hemant Gokhale. Four honourable recipients were as follows:
On the occasion of the completion of 150 years of Satyashodhak Samaj founded by 19th century reformer Mahatma Phule, the WNY alongwith Chavdi Manch of Thane took the initiative to unite all progressive democratic institutions and organizations and formed the Satyashodhak Thought Promotion Committee and on the eve of Mahatma Phule's death anniversary i.e. on 27th November, Satyashodhak Dindi was carried out in Thane city. More than thousand people participated in the rally including many dignitaries like MP Supriya Sule, senior writer and activist Dr. Anand Teltumbde.
As a part of preparation for the rally public lectures were organised at number of places. Professor of History in the Savitribai Phule Pune University Prof. Devkumar Ahire spoke on the monumental contribution of Satyashodhak Samaj. His speech was held in Thane as well as at Ghansoli centre. After the Dindi, a state level essay and poster competitions were organized and as a year-long follow up action it was decided to establish Satyashodak Katta to spread the Satyashodhaki thought.
A state level poetry recital program titled 'Kavita Maharashtrachi' was organized on 26th August 2023. Senior poet Dr. Pradya Daya Pawar presided over the function and poet and senior journalist Vijay Chormare anchored the program. Eight young poets and poetesses from various districts of Maharashtra presented their poems. Poets were: Pawan Nalat (Amravati), Ramzan Mulla (Islampur, Dist. Sangli), Lata Ahivale (Sangli), Namdev Koli (Bhusawal, Dist. Jalgaon), Vrishali Vinayak (Mumbai), Balika Bitle (Pune), Aditya Davane and Geetesh Shinde (both Thane). This gathering of poems portraying social reality was appreciated by the audience.

The annual program at Ghansoli was a sight to behold as students took to the stage to showcase their talents through various cultural dances and performances. The program was a wonderful celebration of diversity as students from different backgrounds and cultures came together to showcase their unique traditions and customs. The energy and enthusiasm displayed by the students were infectious as they moved to the beat of the music, performing choreographed dances on different cultural and Bollywood songs. The entire event was a reflection of our school's commitment to promoting inclusivity and celebrating diversity, leaving every participant feeling proud and inspired.
On the occasion of International Women's Day i.e. 8th March, MKCL's (Maharashtra
Knowledge Corporation Ltd.) new training courses under the title KLiC, were inaugurated
by the President Ms. Latika S.M.
KLiC stands for Knowledge Lit Career. These courses serve as a link between college to
career. These courses are certified by Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University,
Nashik.
The focus of CLiQ courses is on knowledge-based skills for career development in various
areas of the service sector. There are in all four courses, out of which following three
have already been started.
KLiC Basic Tally- Students will learn to make more accurate and quick reports in no
time! Become proficient in GST, voucher, currency, inventories and excise reports.
KLIC Advanced Tally- In this course students will learn accounting voucher entries
including voucher configuration and Inventory setup and advanced inventory
configuration, concepts and applications of VAT, Service Tax, TDS, TCS and Excise
Advanced accounting transaction recording, inclusive of Industrial Accounting, Indirect
Taxation and various statutory forms for tax filing requirements. Application of all the
above aspects in Tally Payroll management and transactions, Report generation and
Financial Analysis
KLIC Personality Development – In this course students will learn Soft Skills,
Communication Skills & Skills necessary for Personal Effectiveness. There has been a lot
of research done at international level in internalization of soft skills including
communication skills. Lot of emphasis has been given on self-actualization and
self-development skills. Being sensitive to oneself, others, society and the nature is
found to be the core competency in attaining soft skills

Fortnightly 'Pariwartanacha Watsaru', bi-monthly 'Kelyane Bhashantar' and monthly 'Andolan' are last three recipients of this award. This year ‘Prabodhan Puraskar’ was awarded to bi-monthly Rangavacha. The award was presented by well-known theatre writer and director ‘Shafaat Khan’ and was received by ‘Prasad Ghanekar’ on behalf of Rangavacha. Another facet of this program was presentation by noted psychologist Dr Anand Nadkarni on the subject of 'Journey from Emotional Well-being to Emotional wealth'.
'Wrati' awards were presented after two years gap due to Covid-19 Lockdown. This year in addition to regular three awards, viz. Samajvrati, Karyavrati and Shikshanvrati, fourth special award was given to veteran activist Madhu Mohite. Samajwrati award was given to social and water rights activist Seetaram Shelar, Karyavrati award was given to Dr. Prashant Thorat for his yeoman service to unorganised workers in Navi Mumbai, Shikshanvrati award was given to Ms. Arati Naik who works as a proactive teacher in tribal area of Raigad district. Ex President of Akhil Bhartiy Marathi Sahitya Sammelan Bharat Sasne conferred the awards. Prof Vrushali Vinayak was the compere.
Eklavya award ceremony was conducted in Ghansoli on 2nd July 2022. 75 Students were awarded. Senior Poet Neerja was the chief guest. In addition to this 30 students from Yashodhan school in Thane were given Eklavya Awards in a separate program in Thane by ex-principal and noted social worker Prof. Neeta Sane. The program was conducted at Yashodhan School.
Mr. Akshay Shimpi came Ghansoli Centre to discuss with the children about acting/drama . He himself is an actor and writer. While giving acting lessons he showed the children the different way of using an object or how to mimic someone using facial expressions. A total of 55 children were present.
A training camp for Disha class teachers from Indiranagar and Ambedkarnagar, Turbhe was
organized at Yusuf Meher Ali Centre, Tara - Panvel.
Speakars were President Ms Latika S. M., Treasurer Mr. Virendra Tangri and Mr. Arun
Naik, a counselor of IPH center. He conducted a session on Child Psychology.
A total of 24 people like 19 teachers, supervisor, Disha Project Head, Kindergarten
teacher Kalpana Mhatre of the institute attended this camp.
Annual gathering of kindergarten was held online due to Covid-19 Lock down. Total number of 20 boys and girls from the senior and junior classes participated in the cultural activities like, poetry reading , songs, and dance.
